A4 Holding presents "Isola Sicura": a road safety project thought for children
31 August 2018

A4 Holding, a company of the Abertis Group, will participate in the 2018 Edition of Tocatì, the International Street Games Festival scheduled in Verona from September 13th to 16th, with “Isola Sicura”: an educational project dedicated to road safety for school-age children.

Road safety has always been one of the Group's priorities: to inform and and to make the population aware of the need for safety and responsible mobility, especially among the most at-risk groups (children, young people and the elderly), is part of the numerous initiatives the company put in the first, in collaboration with international partners and local institutions.

Isola Sicura will be in the Playsmart area in Piazza Bra, to highlight the common commitment to road safety for children. “Isola Sicura” replicates the road with signs, lanes, pedestrian and round crossings, where the little ones have the opportunity to circulate with bicycles and scooters accompanied by Tutors who introduce them to the basic rules of road safety as if they would be playing a game: why it is so important  to wear a seat belt, what are the possible consequences of using a mobile phone while driving and of not respecting speed limits, etc. At the end of the “game”, each small driver who proves that he has adopted these principles will receive the "responsible driver" license.

"In recent years we have noticed that, for adults, the most effective awareness is linked to warning messages and sanction mechanisms; at the opposite, for young people and children, it works to build a new mentality and a new approach to security. Educational programs designed for young people, such as Isola Sicura, can really contribute to spreading correct behaviors, habits and attitudes that make tomorrow's drivers responsible or support the most vulnerable road users”, said Carlos del Río Carcaño, Chairman of A4 Holding.

To confirm this commitment, the Abertis Group, to which A4 Holding reports, has signed with Unicef the first and most significant international agreement on road safety for children, which includes a joint program in favor before the Philippines and Jamaica, which will subsequently be declined with specific projects also in Europe. Everyday 500 children die in the world due to causes related to road safety.

“I personally thank AGA - Associazione Giochi Antichi, organizer of the Festival - and the city of Verona who have been committed for years to realize this important event that calls over 250 thousand people. This is the best way for us to shape our commitment to the community: promote road safety and be close to the territory. Isola Sicura, after the experience in Verona, will be taken on tour next year along the service areas of the Group's motorways to spread the culture of safety”, concluded Chairman Carlos del Río Carcaño.
