Completion of the lighting and energy modernisation project on te A4 Brescia-Padova and A31 Valdastico motorways
12 February 2024

This is an important investment in line with A4 Holding Group's environmental sustainability programs and objectives, aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing light pollution, while also improving safety levels on the concession routes.

The A4 Holding Group has recently completed works on its network to upgrade the technology and energy efficiency of 150 light towers, mostly located in bus station yards, parking lots and maintenance areas of the A4 Brescia-Padova and A31 Valdastico motorway network under concession.
A complex intervention, planned for 2022 and carried out in 2023, requiring an investment of more than 700 thousand euros and including the replacement of 677 lighting fixtures inside the light towers with new LED technology, which will allow greater visibility and better safety standards and will result in consumption savings estimated at least 1 million Kwh/year.

A new quality of high-power lighting that guarantees perfect visibility even at intersections and roundabouts, already adopted by A4 Holding for installations along the A31 Valdastico North, in the section between Vicenza and Piovene Rocchette, and also proved to be extremely valid in improving the visual comfort of motorists.

Arpav, the Veneto Regional Agency for Environmental Prevention and Protection, contributed its expertise to the sustainable approach of the project, in particular in aspects related to the reduction of light pollution.

For A4 Holding, this project is part of the interventions of the 2022-2024 ESG Sustainability Plan, which could save an estimated 650 tons of CO2 per year, if not for the decision already taken in 2020 to purchase 100% renewable energy for highway services.
