The final stretch of Verona's Southern Ring Road reopened early today
23 January 2023

Today, in the presence of the Vice-President of the Veneto Region, Elisa De Berti, and the mayors of San Martino Buon Albergo, Giulio Furlani, and Lavagno, Marco Padovani, the Tangenziale Sud (southern by-pass road) of Verona was reopened to vehicular traffic in the section between the junction with the S.P. 38 Porcilana and the S.R. 11, in the territories of San Martino Buon Albergo and Lavagno, in correspondence with the Milan-Venice railway line overpass.

Autostrada Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova opened approximately three months earlier than originally planned.

The construction site concerned the doubling of the road section of theSouthern ring road of Verona, in the municipality of San Martino Buon Albergo, which now passes from one to two lanes in each direction, thus allowing a decisive improvement of the local road system. In addition, with the installation of the new safety barriers at the Vago junctions, the existing lighting system has been integrated with the innovative LED system, which offers among other advantages a significant reduction of light pollution and promotes energy savings, with consequent improvement in terms of environmental sustainability.

During the entire construction period, Autostrada Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova, in cooperation with local institutions, worked to minimize the inconvenience caused by the impact of the construction site on the viability of the area.

On the other hand, work on widening the road platform of the A4 Brescia-Padova motorway section at km 292+200, necessary for the construction of the emergency lane, is continuing pursuing the initial objective announced by the motorway company to improve road safety and the service to local mobility, and is scheduled for completion in spring 2023.

"We have demonstrated our expertise and organisational capacity - is the comment of the General Manager of Autostrada Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova, Bruno Chiari - in order to better meet the needs of the Verona area, reducing the duration of the construction site and promoting, before and during the execution of the works, the best initiatives to reduce the inconveniences related to the local road system, so as to realise a work that we are certain will favor an traffic for the population of the municipalities involved".

"The work completed today is a very important intervention for the Scaliger road network," commented Elisa De Berti, Vice President of the Veneto Region, "which will improve safety conditions for motorists on that stretch of the ring road. The construction site, which lasted about two years, certainly caused inconvenience to the area, and for this I thank the inhabitants for their patience. However, Autostrada Brescia Padova has committed itself to finding the least impactful solutions and to respecting the schedule. Proof of this is the fact that the works even closed three months ahead of schedule. I would like to emphasise the great synergy with local authorities and institutions, with whom critical issues and answers to citizens have been shared. A modus operandi in which I firmly believe'.
